Ms. Black has always loved working with children. She started out by babysitting her nieces and nephews, teaching them while caring for them, and developed a deep passion for education. Deciding to pursue her passion, she attended Marion College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education, and later earning a Master of Education. For over 25 years, Ms. Black has been an integral member of her educational community, teaching at Marion Independent Community Schools. As a dedicated, motivated educator, and the first person in her family to attend college, she has never stopped pursuing her own education. She has been certified as a daycare provider, and earned her administrative license. Currently, she is working on earning a doctorate. Growing and learning as an educator with each passing year, Ms. Black continues to enjoy great fulfillment from her teaching work.

In addition to her primary responsibility as an elementary school teacher, she also works as a library assistant. She loves working with both children and adults and is empowered by her ability to help others engage in lifelong learning. Ms. Black has also been an active member of many community organizations, working as a tutor for a local development center, acting as a mentor for young college students, working for the Marion College Baldwin Food Service, and serving as a camp counselor at her church, among others. She is a member of the National Education Association and serves on the board of directors for the American Association of University Women. She has contributed numerous articles to professional journals. As a testament to her success and stature as an educator, Ms. Black has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in American Education, and Who’s Who in America.
