Charles H. Neumann, Professor Emeritus at Oakland Community College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in science and mathematics.

Mr. Neumann began his career focusing on electrical engineering and was so taken with mathematics he decided to emphasize his studies in the subject. In 1962 he earned an AS from Alpena Community College in Michigan before matriculating at Michigan State University where he earned a BS in 1964 and a MAT in mathematics in 1965. He worked as a science teacher for Alpena Public Schools in Michigan immediately upon graduating before his time as a mathematics instructor for Alpena Community College from 1966 to 1984. Due to his excellence in education, Mr. Neumann served as the mathematics and science department chair of the institution from 1969 to 1984. He then took his talents to Oakland Community College in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where he taught as a mathematics and statistics professor from 1984 until his retirement in 2009.

In addition to his main pursuits, Mr. Neumann has held the role of vice president of Michigan Education Special Services since 2005. He has been involved with the organization since 1975, previously serving as a president and trustee of the organization, and considers his work with Michigan Education Special Services Association to be a career highlight as is an exceptional program. He served as a trustee for MESA on the Blue Cross Blue Shield Board of Michigan and as a trustee on the Vision Services Planning Board in Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky. Mr. Neumann encourages all educators to understand that learning never truly ceases, remain open to new approaches, and have a sense of humor. As a testament to his success, Mr. Neumann has held membership with the National Education Association and the Oakland Community College Faculty Association, has been a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America, and has been featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who In Finance and Business, Who’s Who In Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, and Who’s Who in the World.
