Notably, he was the president of the Pittsburgh chapter of the American Society of Information Science, member of the International Interactive Communications Association of Pennsylvania, chairman of congress for the International Commission on Glass, and member of the Broadcast Education Association. He also is known for his extensive work with the Office Systems Research Association, for which he was previously the president, vice president of professional studies, vice president of the membership committee and co-chair of the curriculum revision committee. Dr. Fidoten’s longevity in his field is supported by his education, which includes a PhD in information science from the University of Pittsburgh, a Bachelor of Library Science from the Pratt Institute and a Bachelor of Arts from New York University. In recognition of his professional excellence he was the recipient of a presidential citation and he was named a Distinguished Alumnus by the University of Pittsburgh.
