Dina Sevayega, Education Specialist and Administrator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academic administration and bilingual education.
With an impressive professional history dating back more than five decades, the contributions Dr. Sevayega has made to education have had longstanding effects for programs and students. Prior to retiring in 2019, she served as an associate in higher and teacher education with the New York State Education Department. Starting in this role in 1988, she contributed her skills and expertise by reviewing academic program proposals and charters, conducted periodic evaluation visits for two-and four-year accreditation or re-accreditation, and analyzed data. In her career, she taught Spanish and business classes and directed similar developmental educational programs with Ithaca College, Indiana University and Miami University. In addition, Dr. Sevayega served on the boards of the New York State Child Care Coordinating Council, the Harvest of Hope Foundation and the Wellness Alliance Foundation.
Growing up, Dr. Sevayega was the oldest of 12 children and grew up migrating from Texas to Michigan following crops. She earned a Bachelor of Science from Ohio State University in 1964, a Master of Science from Youngstown University in 1976, and later an ED from Indiana University in 1983. In recognition of her lifelong dedication to education, she received a Bilingual Education Fellowship from Indiana University, the Arthur A. Schomburg Distinguished Service Award, an International Leaders in Achievement accolade and inclusion in the Hispanic Leadership Fellows Program, the International Book of Honor, the United States Department of Education Bilingual Education Fellowship and Who’s Who of American Women.
