John Beach, Storyteller and Writer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in teaching, writing and radio broadcasting.
With an impressive professional history dating back more than five decades, Mr. Beach’s achievements include preparing generations of students for the future, as well as writing stories with lasting impressions. He started his career as an announcer and program director at KIXX Radio before bringing his talents in this industry to KLME Radio. In 1965, he joined the faculty at School District #1 in Rock Springs, WY. He remained a part of this school community as an educator until 1995. In addition to teaching, he worked part-time as a disc jockey at KRKK-KQSW Radio and as a program and news director for KSIT Radio. Furthermore, Mr. Beach taught as a part-time instructor at Western Wyoming Community College from 1995 to 2001. He remains a freelance storyteller and writer with Books Without Covers, a venture he began working with in 1989.
In his own academic pursuits, Mr. Beach earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wyoming in 1963. He continued with postgraduate work throughout his career at Utah State University. Furthermore, he became a certified speech, drama and English teacher in the state of Wyoming. In 2001, he received the National Storytelling Network-Western Oracle Award. In 1995, Mr. Beach’s short story “Willie The Handcart Boy” was featured in the book “Many Voices, True Tales of America’s Past” and in 1996, he recorded Children of the Journey. In his career, he maintained professional affiliation with the National Council of Teachers of English, the National Storytelling Association, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and Wyoming Writer’s Inc. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, including his seven grandchildren; Dreyton, Marleise, Egan, Camden, Bannon, Elizabeth and Jamison.
