Professor George J. Walendowski, MBA, SCPM, ChE, FCMI, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in higher education and management.
For more than four decades, Prof. Walendowski has demonstrated top skills in business management and analysis driven by his real-world experiences in the field. His unique blend of experience has also enabled him to make considerable impacts in his field through both corporate and academic roles. He established his career in 1972 with Unocal Corporation, where he dedicated seven years as an accountant and data control supervisor. Thereafter, he joined the Hughes Aircraft Company, a major American aerospace and defense contractor at the time. While there, Prof. Walendowski advanced through many roles over 14 years, including senior financial analyst, financial planning specialist, program controls specialist, business management specialist, and business analyst.
Considered an expert in his field by the mid-1990s, Prof. Walendowski took on the opportunity to teach in order to share his knowledge with the next generation of professionals. Notably, he was an adjunct professor of accounting and business mathematics for the Los Angeles City College for more than 30 years, during which time he also served as an adjunct professor in accounting for Pasadena City College, an online tutor in mathematics and finance, and is a reviewer of conference papers. His excellence in academia led Prof. Walendowski in obtaining opportunities to endeavor into new projects. He was an editorial review board member for “Management in Practice” for the Society for the Advancement of Management, an editorial advisory board member for the “Strategic Finance and Management Accounting Quarterly,” advisor for the Institute of Management Accountants and a reviewer for the “Business Policy and Strategy Division” for the Academy of Management. In addition, Prof. Walendowski was asked to join the Oxford Education Society as a member.
In recognition of his professional excellence in his career, Prof. Walendowski was the recipient of many awards. He earned a Certificate Of Outstanding Service to the Editorial Advisory Board by the Institute of Management Accountants, an Outstanding Reviewer Award from the business policy and strategy division of the Academy Of Management, a Superior Performance Award and Certificate Of Outstanding Achievement from Hughes Aircraft Co., a Robert Half Author’s Award from the Los Angeles chapter of the National Association Of Accountants and an Author Recognition Award from the Los Angeles chapter of the Planning Executives Institute. Additionally, Prof. Walendowski has been honored by such organizations as the International Society for Philosophical Enquiry, the Chartered Management Institute, Marquis Who’s Who, CSULA Alumni Association, Stanford Alumni Association and Cornell Alumni Association.
When asked of his accomplishments, Prof. Walendowski attributes his success to his hard work and the foundation of knowledge that his own education provided to him. He holds an Associate of Arts from Los Angeles City College, a Bachelor of Science from California State University and an MBA from California State University. Committed to his professional development, Prof. Walendowki has completed more than a dozen postgraduate certification programs. Notably, he holds a master’s certificate in organization leadership from Villanova University, as well as two certificates in finance accounting and business analysis. He also completed a leadership program with Cornell University. Prof. Walendowski holds a certificate in Tackling the Challenges of Big Data from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a certificate in Globalization from the University of Oxford, a Chartered Economist Certificate in Athens and 5th Century Intellectual Revolution from the University Cambridge, a certificate in financial planning, control and management from Duke University, a certificate in project management from Stanford University, and a certificate in Economics Measurement from the National Association for Business Economics. Looking ahead, Prof. Walendowski intends to continue in his professional pursuits while taking on new opportunities that come along.
