With more than 25 years of professional experience, Ms. Butler has been retired since 1990, having been a teacher with Putnam County Schools since 1988. Prior to obtaining this role, she was a teacher with Horseshoe Drive- Rapides School from 1980 to 1988, with Rapides Schools from 1974 to 1976, and with Country Day School from 1972 to 1974. Earlier in her career, she was a teacher with Rapides Parrish Schools from 1971 to 1972, and with Memphis City Schools from 1964 to 1971.
Ms. Butler began her career as a student at Southwestern University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Music in 1964. She then joined Memphis State University, earning a Master of Education in 1968. She has been certified as a music and special education teacher in the state of Tennessee. Ms. Butler is a member of the Putnam County Educators Association, the Council for Exceptional Children, Eastern Star, and Alpha Delta Kappa. She has been featured in numerous honors publications, including Who’s Who in American Education and Who’s Who of American Women.
