Dale Nitzschke, Chancellor at Southeast Missouri State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of higher education.
Dedicated to the field of higher education and passionate about cultivating the minds of his students, Dr. Nitzschke served as the chancellor of Southeast Missouri State University from 1999 to 2001 before retiring after a long and fruitful career as an educator. In addition to his most recent role, Dr. Nitzschke has served the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, as both a professor of education and the vice president of academy affairs as well as worked for the State University of New York, Plattsburgh, as the associate dean of professional and general studies and as the dean of education for the School of Arts and Sciences. Furthermore, Dr. Nitzschke worked for Loras College as the associate dean of the College of Education, the chairman of the Department of Education and a professor of education. In preparation for his career in education, Dr. Nitzschke, earned a Bachelor of Arts from Loras College, graduating cum laude in 1959. He then matriculated at Ohio University where he earned a Master of Education in guidance and counseling as well as a Doctor of Philosophy in guidance and counseling.
In addition to his main pursuits, Dr. Nitzschke has served as a workshop director, consultant, evaluator for elementary schools and notably helped to secure two million dollars in funding for construction efforts at Southeast Missouri State University for the River Campus. He has been lauded with accolades including, but not limited to, the John T. Crowe Award from the Regional Commerce and Growth Association, Administrator of the Year from the West Virginia Association for Counseling and Development and had been named the West Virginian of the Year Award from the West Virginia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. Dr. Nitzschke is proud of is always wanting to be seen as someone who has been very concerned about, interested in, and helpful with the people that he has been in contact with over the years as he cares deeply for all those whom he has helped in his career. As a further testament to his success, Dr. Nitzschke has been featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the East and Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
