Myra Weiger, professor at Kean University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academia.

With nearly 15 years of professional experience, Dr. Weiger was a professor and chair of elementary, middle, and secondary education and educational administration at Kean University in 1970, having been a teacher of elementary education since 1964, which is when she started her tenure. Prior to obtaining these roles, she was a teacher of the deaf at Gary Public Schools from 1957 to 1959, where she was previously a speech therapist from 1956 to 1957. Earlier in her career, she was an English teacher with the Irvington Board of Education in 1956.

Dr. Weiger began her career as a student at Montclair University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1956. She continued her studies with Kean University, completing a Master of Arts in 1967. She then joined Rutgers University, earning a Doctor of Education in 1977. Dr. Weiger is certified in elementary education, speech therapy, special education, and secondary English and drama. In addition, Dr. Weiger studied at the University of California between 1959 and 1961.

Throughout her career, Dr. Weiger has been recognized with honors and accolades for her contributions and achievements. The recipient of the Certificate of Appreciation from the Humane Society of the United States, she was also given the Award for Promoting Aerospace Education from the Civil Air Patrol, the Outstanding Alumnus Award from Kean University, and the Rotary International Jean Harris Award for Devoted Service Above Self. She has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, the Who’s Who in the East, and Who’s Who of American Women.
