Linda K. Landis

Title: Music Educator
Location:  Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, United States

Linda K. Landis, music educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators and Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music education.

A lover of music and a professional born with the “teacher gene,” Mrs. Landis has been an example for her students in the Phoenixville, PA, region for the last five decades. She established her career in 1970 as a choir director for the West Chester State University, where she was pursuing her higher education. She achieved a Bachelor of Science in 1972, followed by a Master of Music in voice in 1976. Driven to establish a name for herself in her field, she became a music educator for the Phoenixville Area Middle School while also taking an active role in the community as a soprano soloist for the St. John’s Lutheran Church and director of chorus and music activities for Surrey Services. Also at the church, Mrs. Landis served as a Sunday school teacher, member of the Christian education committee, ministry lead and member of the church council. When asked of her success in her career, Mrs. Landis’ feedback is simple: practice, practice, practice. “I am only as good a teacher as the time my students put into their part of the learning,” she says, adding that building relationships with her students has enabled her to encourage and inspire them to want to practice on their own time. She also notes collaborating with peers has been instrumental to her success.

Mrs. Landis is most proud of the first CD she put out. She wanted to share God’s message and she felt that the CD did that. She is noted in her community for composing four pieces of work in particular: “As the Daisy Fields Grow,” “God’s Rainbow,” “Wedding Song,” and “The Little Jesus.” Mrs. Landis’ involvement in industry organizations has also been a proponent of her accomplishments. For many years she has been a member of the National Education Association, the Pennsylvania State Education Association, the Phoenixville Area Education Association, the Music Educators National Conference, the Pennsylvania Music Education Association, and Business and Professional Women. As she looks to the future, Mrs. Landis will continue teaching music while writing and composing new pieces of work to share in God’s light.
