Utilizing the skills and experience he has cultivated as an anchor, reporter, broadcast journalist, fellow and director, Dr. Hausman excels as an educator. He joined the faculty at Rowan University in 1997 and has remained committed to sharing his passion and abilities in the Fourth Estate ever since. In addition, he previously served as the president of the Center for Media in the Public Interest from 1993 to 20000. He was a senior fellow of the Institute for Global Ethics, a Mellon fellow and a visiting instructor at New York University. He continued at Antioch University, receiving a Master of Arts in 1988 and then at Union Graduate School, receiving a PhD in 1990. He received a post-doctoral fellowship at New York University the following year.   In 2018, he was recognized for his work with the Independent Publisher Book Award, winning a gold medal in the writing and publishing category. Dr. Hausman, who also writes fiction, recalls that the highlight of his career was seeing a review of a book he wrote in which the person said in the review that things were tough for them lately and reading his book — a humorous novel — helped them feel better.
