Susan Anne Titus, Associate Board Member, Faculty Member and Consultant for the School of Social Work at Wayne State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in social work.
As a social worker, Mrs. Titus has spent her career with one key message: be someone to believe in your own success. Driven by her own positive experience in social work as an adolescent, she demonstrates expertise in managing group work, including the social aspects of non-profit organizations. She began her career in 1965 as an assistant director for the Edgemont Community Center in Durham, NC. From there, she held a number of prominent roles, including group activities specialist for the City of Detroit Department of Parks and Recreation, administrative assistant to Council Member Mary Ann Mahaffey, executive director for Citizens for Better Care and consultant for the Detroit Area Agency on Aging. Today, she excels as a faculty member and associate board member for Wayne State University’s School of Social Work. In addition to her professional positions, Mrs. Titus currently sits as vice president of the Michigan Federation of Teachers, and board of director’s member for Hope Community Outreach and Development.
Highly regarded by industry peers as a change maker, Mrs. Titus has been incredibly involved in her professional community over the years. She has numerous presentations and papers published in the field and she has chaired a number of organizations as a commitment to her work. In the last decade, Ms. Titus has served as secretary and board of director’s member for the Michigan Consumer Federation, board of directors and secretary for the Michigan Consumer Voice, chairperson for the Aging Services Consortium of Detroit, board of directors and treasurer for the Sojourner Foundation, and member of the Metropolitan Detroit Brand Board. In recognition of her professional excellence, Mrs. Titus was the recipient of a Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award.
Mrs. Titus’ success is supported by her education and professional distinctions. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of North Carolina, which she earned in 1965, and a Master of Social Work from Wayne State University, which she earned in 1968. She is CITI certified in community assessment, a master social worker in clinical and macro practices accredited by the Michigan Board of Social Work, a certified social worker, and holds a leadership works distinction by the Indiana School of Philanthropy. As she looks to the future, Mrs. Titus intends to continue in her work while seeking new opportunities for growth and success.
