Jean Carol Ramage, PhD, Professor Emeritus and former Dean of Education at California State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in psychology.

Known as a problem solver with an expertise working with children who have developmental and behavioral issues, Dr. Ramage feels that she has been successful in her career for three reasons: she isn’t afraid to take risks, she is surrounded by creative people, and she naturally gets along with others. In total, Dr. Rampage has amassed more than five decades of professional experience. Noteworthy roles held in her career include administrator for the school-based behavioral health program for the Hawaii Department of Education, professor for the department of counseling and school psychology at the University of Nebraska, dean of the College of Education for the University of Nebraska, dean of psychology at James Madison University, and director of psychology for the Schools Program at the American Psychological Association. Dr. Ramage concluded her career with the department of educational psychology and counseling at California State University.

Dr. Ramage prepared for her career by achieving a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Oregon in 1961, a Master of Arts in counseling and psychology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1966, and a PhD in educational psychology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1971. To remain at the top of her field, she has been immensely involved in her professional community. Some of Dr. Ramage’s recent projects have included her work as a liaison between the California School Psychology Association and the School Psychology Educators of California, president of the National Association of School Psychologists, and founding president of the Oregon School Psychology Association. Dr. Ramage has been recognized for her professional excellence with an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, a Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award, and a Certificate of Recognition for National Leadership from the Association of Teachers and Educators. As she looks to the future, Dr. Ramage intends to continue pursuing passion projects in her field while enjoying her retirement. She also intends to indulge in her all-time favorite hobby: collecting California pottery.
