Susan Massey, Professor at St. Thomas University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academics.
With more than 10 years of professional experience, Dr. Massey has been a professor at St. Thomas University since 2008. A respected voice in the field, she is a member of the International Literacy Association and Council for Exceptional Children. She co-authored several texts and has contributed chapters to books and articles to professional journals. In 2002, she was recognized with the Teacher of the Year Award.
Dr. Massey was educated in Canada and at the age of 20 went to the Bahamas, Andrew’s Island, and became a teacher for the Ministry of Education and Culture. Dr. Massey earned a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Nova Southeastern University. She was initially going to be on contract for three years but ended up staying for 30. When the University of Miami established a master’s program for its teachers, she took advantage and obtained a Master of Science in special education, reading education and emotional behavior. While teaching the top students at the British O Level courses, all of the students that applied for her class passed their English tests. She is a tireless advocate for her students. She later earned a PhD at the University of Miami in 2008.
