Lilleth Beckford, associate professor and librarian at the College of New Rochelle, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academics.

With more than 50 years of professional experience, Dr. Beckford has been librarian of the Gill Library at the College of New Rochelle since 2004, also serving as an associate professor since 2011 and assistant professor since 2004. Prior to obtaining these roles, she was library director of the HIV Resource Library and a member of the adjunct faculty at Elmer Holmes Bobst Library from 1995 to 2004, and a financial analyst with Salomon Brothers Investment Back from 1989 to 1995. Earlier in her career, she was library director at Grace, Kennedy and Company, LTD. from 1978 to 1986 and a library assistant for the Jamaica Library Service from 1968 to 1978.

Dr. Beckford began her career as a student at the University of the West Indies, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in library studies in 1974. She later continued her studies with St. John’s University, completing a Master of Library Sciences in business librarianship and automation in libraries in 1993. She then joined Queens College, receiving a Master of Arts in urban studies in 2007. Dr. Beckford earned a Doctor of Education in executive leadership with Saint John Fisher College in 2017.
