Ann Lousin, Law Professor at the John Marshall Law School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in constitutional and commercial law.

Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Lousin has maintained that continuing to learn and adjust have been some of the biggest factors to her professional growth. In her own academic pursuits, she was heavily encouraged by her parents to go after any of her dreams. She first earned a Bachelor of Arts from Ginnell College in 1964 and continued with postgraduate coursework at the University of Heidelberg. She returned to the United States, whereupon she earned a JD from the University of Chicago in 1968. She was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1970, the US District Court of Illinois in 1974, the US Court of Appeals, 7th circuit in 1979 and the US Supreme Court in 1992.

In 1970, Ms. Lousin joined the Sixth Illinois Constitutional Convention as a research assistant before becoming a staff assistant with the Illinois House of Representatives in 1971. In 1973, she was made Parliamentarian of the House, and continued to serve in this capacity until 1975. In 1975, she joined the faculty of the John Marshall Law School as an assistant professor, becoming an associate professor in 1988 and a professor in 1980. She continues to teach as a professor at the institution in present day. Furthermore, from 1973 to 1983, Ms. Lousin contributed her experience and expertise as the Chairman of the Illinois State Civil Service Commission.

In 2009, Ms. Lousin was elected as a member of the American Law Institute. In her career she has also served as the Chair of the Board of Governors for the Armenian Bar Association, and on the Board of Directors of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois. Furthermore, she has maintained professional affiliation with the American Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the Chicago Council of Lawyers. She is the recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and has been featured in Who’s Who of American Women.
