Andrew Bixler, Ecology and Ethics Professor, Dean and Bishop at Chaffey College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in theological education.
Answering a higher call, Dr. Bixler became an educator and researcher dedicated to the Anglican Church. He was first set on his path by earning a Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University in 1965 before earning a Master of Science at the institution in 1967. From there, he later earned a PhD from the University of California, and a diploma and a DTh from the St. Andrews Institute of Theology.
Early on in his career, Dr. Bixler worked at an icefields project in Juneau, AK with an international biological program. In 1967, he joined the Arizona Ranch School as Headmaster before accepting a professor position at the University of California a year a later. Since 1960, Dr. Bixler has taught at Chaffey College. He has also been a priest and bishop with the Anglican Church since 1998 and with the Boreal Studies Research Labs since 2003. On top of this work, he is a rector with the St. Andrew of-the-Lake Anglican Church and an Academy Dean for the St. Andrew Institute of Theology. Since 1996, he has been a monk with the Order of St. Andrew and since 1969, conducted research as a consultant in Boreal American biology.
Driven by a desire to promote faith and environmental ethics, Dr. Bixler has been honored on several occasions for his work. Furthermore, he has contributed to numerous articles, professional journals and Caratas amidst his work. Dr. Bixler has maintained professional affiliation with the Ecological Society of America, the Canadian Field Naturalists, the Arctic Institute, the Coleopterist Society and the American Arachnological Society. He has been featured in Who’s Who in the World.
