Title: English, Special Education and Home Economics Teacher (Retired)
Location: Shepherdstown, West Virginia, United States
Rebecca Ann Wilson, Former English, Special Education and Home Economics Teacher, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in teaching.
Compassionate, professional and poised, Mrs. Wilson celebrates an illustrious career that began in 1967 as a teacher for Jefferson County Schools in Charlestown, WV. During her tenure, she taught students on the topics of English and home economics, as well as special education. Driven by her love of learning instilled since childhood, she remained with the school district for the duration of her career, noting that Jefferson County Schools has been her second family for decades. In recognition of her work, she was the recipient of an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as a Who’s Who Achievement Award.
Mrs. Wilson was very involved in education programs and initiatives outside of her regular 9-5 responsibilities. She was a member of the Jefferson County Board of Education, chairman of the West Virginia Advisory Council on Education for Exceptional Children, volunteer for the Jefferson County Special Olympics, and board director for the Regional Education Service Agency. Today, she is a lifetime member of the American Association of University Women. In fact, it is because of her own education that Mrs. Wilson feels she was afforded the opportunity to become successful in her career. She holds a Bachelor of Science in secondary education from Shepherd College (now Shepherd University) and she is a certified special education teacher in the state of West Virginia. As she looks to the future, Mrs. Wilson intends to continue enjoying her retirement.
