Patricia Folmsbee, Retired teacher at East Windsor Board of Education, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in language arts.
With more than 35 years of professional experience, Ms. Folmsbee has been retired since 1996. Prior to her retirement, she held a number of positions with the East Windsor Board of Education, including lead teacher of reading and language arts from 1995 to 1996, English as a second language coordinator from 1990 to 1996, and reading and language arts consultant from 1970 to 1996. Earlier in her career, she was a teacher at Air Force Deputies School from 1962 to 1964 and with Chicopee Board of Education from 1960 to 1962 and 1964 to 1969. What inspired her to go into education was realizing that some students needed someone to connect with them and she also enjoyed the process of working with people. She engaged with people no matter where she was in the world.
Ms. Folmsbee began her career as a student at Albertus Magnus College, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1960. She then joined the University of Massachusetts, receiving a Master of Education in 1962 and completing postgraduate coursework in 1969. She has been certified in reading and language arts by Central Connecticut State University, and she is a certified reading and language arts consultant and intermediate administrator. A highlight of Mrs. Folmsbee’s career is the retirement party she was given at the end of her career. The recognition made her feel that she contributed to society. She still keeps in contact with former students and colleagues.
