With 65 years of professional experience, Ms. Barron has been a teacher with Toledo Public Schools since 1975. Prior to obtaining her current role, she was a teacher with American School from 1972 to 1975 and with Boston Public Schools from 1960 to 1971. Earlier in her career, she was a teacher with Yazoo City Training School from 1954 to 1958. Growing up, Ms. Barron wasn’t as interested in music as she was with other subjects and originally showed interest in archeology and poetry. She decided to go into music after studying at a small rural school and came to a newfound appreciation of the art.
Ms. Barron began her career as a student at Arkansas State University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1954. She continued her studies with the Boston Conservatory, earning a Master of Music in 1960. She subsequently completed postgraduate coursework with the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria and Zagreb, Yugoslavia. One of the highlights of her career has been singing in a chorus with Sir Caldwell. She also sang in the Boston Opera Chorus, the Toledo Opera Chorus and maintained professional affiliation with the Ohio Music Education Association, the National Association of Female Executives, Delta Kappa Gamma and Delta Sigma Theta.
