David Klassen, PhD, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in chemistry.
An award-winning educator highly regarded by industry experts for his incredible work over four decades, Dr. Klassen demonstrates top skills as a teacher, researcher and mentor. Retired since 2006, he concluded his career as a chemistry educator for McMurry University in Abilene, TX. He held this role for 37 years, during which time he achieved recognition for his work and was afforded the opportunity to serve as chairman of the faculty, an endeavor that Dr. Klassen notes was the highlight of his career. In addition, he was honored as the graduation marshal for five consecutive years and he was named Outstanding Faculty Member in 2000.
Dr. Klassen earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas in 1961 and a Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico in 1966. After completing his education, he pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Frankfurt in West Germany for one year. Upon returning to the U.S., he served as a research associate at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Recently honored with a Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award, Dr. Klassen remained at the top of his career through his membership with the American Chemical Society. Looking ahead, he plans to enjoy his well-deserved retirement while taking on passion projects that thrill him.
