Debra Dion Faust, Retired English and Theatre Teacher, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of English and theater education.
Combining her love for languages and theatre, Ms. Dion Faust has dedicated her career to teaching both subjects. She has earned a Bachelor of Arts in music and French from Moravian College in 1973 and realized that her varied interests would allow her to have a successful career teaching what she loves. She earned a Master of Fine Art in in theatre education from Boston University in 1978 and holds certification to teach speech and theatre, English, French and music. She served as an English and theatre teacher as well as a drama advisor for Saugus High School in Massachusetts from 1979 to 1981 before working as an English and theatre teacher with Ipswich High School from 1983 to 2012.
Ms. Dion Faust fondly remembers production she did of “Look Homeward Angel” at Ipswich High School in 2000 when the school had recently rebuilt much of their buildings, including the auditorium. Following the production, the cast and crew received a standing ovation and people sought her out to congratulate her on the quality of the production. Coincidentally, Ms. Dion Faust played the lead role in “Look Homeward Angel” during her senior year of college and also received a standing ovation. In addition to this honor, Ms. Dion Faust has been the recipient Fine Arts Teacher Year from the Massachusetts Alliance of Arts Education in 1994 and has been inducted to the METG Hall of Fame. She holds membership with organizations such as the Massachusetts Education Theater Guild, the High School Drama Guild and National Council of English Teachers. As a testament to her success, Ms. Dion Faust has been awarded the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who of American Women.
