Gregory Mauriocourt, History Instructor at the Technical College of the Lowcountry, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in history and higher education.
Developing an interest in his profession from a young age, Mr. Mauriocourt enjoyed learning about history as a student, having also been influenced by many of his family members, who were all teachers. Obtaining a Bachelor of Arts from Hiram College in 1986, he later received a Master of Arts from Cleveland State University in 1990. In 1993, he commenced his career as an adjunct faculty at Cuyahoga Community College, holding the position for five years. Thereafter, he has served as a history instructor at the Technical College of the Lowcountry since 1998.
Alongside his primary endeavors, Mr. Mauriocourt served as an advisor for Phi Theta Kappa’s Alpha Lambda Beta chapter at the Technical College of the Lowcountry in 2007 and was active as a precinct community member of Maple Heights, OH, between 1995 and 1997. Recently, he served as a guest speaker at the University of South Carolina Beaufort’s Campus Center for the Arts for the “Books Sandwiched In” series hosted by the Friends of the Beaufort Library in 2018.
In light of his many accomplishments, Mr. Mauriocourt was nominated for an award from the South Carolina Technical Education Association in 2002 and 2003. In addition, he was selected for inclusion in the 64th and 65th editions of Who’s Who in America. However, he cites the highlight of his career to be when he was provided the opportunity to teach students in a variety of different mediums, including face-to-face, online, and through broadcasting. Married with two children, Mr. Mauriocourt enjoys hiking and staying active in his spare time.
