Glenna L. Huls, a Photographer and a Retired Associate Professor of Sociology from Camden County College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in sociology.
Highly motivated to succeed professionally, Ms. Huls dedicated her life to her career. She started out interested in English and journalism, but discovered psychology in college and was hooked. When she saw the amount of paperwork that was required to be a school psychologist compared with the amount of time she would actually be spending with the kids, however, she decided sociology was a better fit. Ms. Huls joined the Sociology Department at Camden County College right after graduating with a Master of Arts in sociology from the University of Oklahoma in 1971, and knew she had made the right choice. She served the school as a faculty member, teaching assistant, associate professor, and department chairperson from then until 2008. She also has experience on the staff of the University of Oklahoma, the University of Pennsylvania, and Dumas High School.
Although Ms. Huls is currently retired from sociology, she continues to pursue her other passion, photography. She was first introduced to the artistic medium in childhood, when her mother gave her a camera. Ms. Huls practiced a lot and found she greatly enjoyed it, so she made sure she kept up with her hobby over the years. Upon her retirement, she moved and joined a garden club in Haddonfield, New Jersey. She quickly learned the group needed a photographer, and knew she was the one for the job. Ms. Huls’ newfound responsibilities include taking pictures of the club’s events and preparing them for the newspaper and yearbook.
