Title: Wellness Educator
Company: Medicap Pharmacy
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina, United States
Charlene (Charle) Allport League, Wellness Educator at Medicap Pharmacy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in wellness.
In her quest to find a career that was meaningful to her, Ms. League garnered experience in a variety of positions. The first stop on her journey, civil service and administration, was inspired by her aunt, the first law librarian at the United States Military Court of Appeals. After years as a secretary and clerk with the U.S. Marine Corps Headquarters, the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and the U.S. Army Research Office at Research Triangle Park, Ms. League became a private child care provider and the secretary of the National Institutes of Health, also in Research Triangle Park. She found contributing to wellness and environmental health research to be particularly rewarding, so she remained with the organization as an administrative secretary and then as an administrator and manager for nearly two decades.
Although Ms. League stepped down in 2009, she remained invested in the field and decided to take her knowledge to Whole Foods Market and Medicap Pharmacy on a more part-time basis. Her role with the latter, which she holds to this day, includes supporting the store manager and cashiers, working with customers looking for supplements, ordering products, and educating customers. What makes the business unique is a process called bio-meridian screening, which allows the pharmacist to access information about customers’ bodies. This helps to determine the best way to get the body to where it needs to be. Ms. League finds investing in health to be very important, and really values the opportunities the job offers.
