Anthony Pietricola, Jr., Music Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music education.
Mr. Pietricola’s father, Anthony Sr., was a musician and a music teacher. He took Mr. Pietricola to concerts as a child. In third grade, he learned how to play piano and later learned how to play the saxophone and clarinet. This introduction to music helped develop his passion and desire to teach music to future generations. He considers it the highlight of his career to have taught so many students, especially middle school students. Another highlight of his career was performing with the Vermont Jazz Ensemble. He has taught music at the Charlotte Central School since 1985. Prior to this, he taught at the Grand Isle County Schools, the Silverlake Regional Schools and the Ithaca City Schools. He has consulted for the Vermont Department of Education since 1993.
In his own academic pursuits, Mr. Pietricola first earned a Bachelor of Music Education at Ithaca College in 1969. He continued at Northern Illinois University to receive a MusM in 1973. Throughout his career, Mr. Pietricola maintained affiliation with a number of professional organizations that have aided in his development. These organizations include the Vermont National Educators Association, the Vermont Music Educators Association, the Vermont Arts Council and the Island Arts. Mr. Pietricola was selected as the Music Educator of the Year in Vermont in the 2003-2004 school year.
