Supported by more than four decades of industry experience, Dr. Field is a revered figure in the realms of medicine and education. Since 1991, he has been serving as a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the School of Medicine at New York University, having previously been an instructor of medicine from 1983 to 1991. Prior to these illustrious roles, he was an instructor in medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital from 1981 to 1983. Alongside his primary profession, he has been a clinical ethics consultant at the Tisch Hospital at New York University since 2012.

Dr. Field holds a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University, and a Doctor of Medicine and certificate in bioethics and medical humanities from New York University. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Bellevue Hospital between 1977 and 1981. In addition, he is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Gastroenterology, and he is also a certified psychodynamic therapist through the New York University Psychoanalytic Institute.

A contributor of myriad articles to medical journals and chapters to medical textbooks, Dr. Field maintains membership with the American College of Physicians, the New York State Medical Society, the American Gastroenterological Association and the New York Academy of Gastroenterology, where he previously served as vice president from 1995 to 1996. As a testament to his profound success, he was the recipient of the John Addison Porter Prize from Yale University in 1973. In addition, he was highlighted in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in the East and Who’s Who in the World.
