Virginia Densmore, Music Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music education.
Driven by passion and a genuine love of music, Mrs. Densmore pursued a career in education in order to pass on these gifts to future generations. She feels the success of her career has been based on being a caring individual. She served as a music educator from 1962 until her retirement in 1992. From 1962 until 1967, she taught at the Sabal Palm Elementary School. In 1967, she joined the faculty at the Florida State University School, the kindergarten through 12th grade laboratory school at Florida State University. Mrs. Densmore was also a graduate of the institution, having earned a bachelor’s degree in 1961 and a master’s degree in 1967. As a musician, her selected instrument is the clarinet.
Out of all her accomplishments, Mrs. Densmore considers receiving Florida State University School the Teacher of the Year Award and the 13 Year Club Teacher Award as her top highlights. She has also received The Artist Series Merit Award, the Tallahassee Music Guild Achievement Award, and the Donna O. Mean Award from the Tallahassee Symphony Society. Throughout her career, Mrs. Densmore maintained affiliation with the American Orff Schulwerk Association, the National Association for Music Educators, the Florida Music Educators Association, the Florida Elementary Music Educators Association, the Tallahassee Music Guild, Alpha Kappa, which is a chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Artist Series and the Tallahassee Symphony Society.
