John Henry Westerhoff III, EdD, Retired Priest Associate at Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church and Dayschool, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in theology and higher education.

Utilizing more than five decades of practiced industry experience, Dr. Westerhoff is a renowned theologian, priest and educator who dedicated his life to educating others on Christian faith. Most recently serving as a priest associate at Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church and Dayschool in Atlanta, GA, from 2005 to 2010, he formerly held the role of visiting professor at the General Theological Seminary in New York City the previous year. In the decade prior, he acted as theologian-in-residence at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Atlanta, where he also held the role of director of the Institute of Pastoral Studies from 1992 to 2003. Over the course of his career, he lent his wealth of knowledge to Duke Divinity School, Harvard Divinity School, the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Princeton Theological Seminary, Yale Divinity School and the Catholic University of America, among many other prestigious institutions. Likewise, he fulfilled lecturing roles both nationally and internationally in Scotland at the University of Edinburgh, in the Republic of Korea at Yonsei University, and in Canada at the Vancouver School of Theology and McGill University.

To prepare for his illustrious career, Dr. Westerhoff pursued formal education at Ursinus College, where he received a Bachelor of Science in 1955. Thereafter, he earned a Bachelor of Divinity from Harvard University in 1958 and a Doctor of Education from Columbia University in 1974. After gaining prestige in the industry, he was the recipient of an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Ursinus College in 1990. As such, he has been ordained as a minister in the United Church of Christ since 1958 and the Episcopal Church since 1978.

Throughout his career, Dr. Westerhoff has authored myriad books regarding theology and higher education. Renowned for his book “Will Our Children Have Faith?” which was published in 1976 and is now in its fourth revised and expanded edition, he also wrote “To Love and To Cherish Till Death Do Us Part” in 1998, “Grateful and Generous Hearts” in 1997, “Schooling Christians” in 1992, “On the Threshold of God’s Future” in 1986, and “Learning Through Liturgy” in 1978, among others. As a testament to his success, he has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, and Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
