Morell Douglas Boone, Ph.D., Professor and Dean Emeritus at Eastern Michigan University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in information technology and higher education.

A prominent figure in the field of information technology, Dr. Boone has been recognized as a professor and dean emeritus at Eastern Michigan University since 2013, having formerly served as professor and dean of the College of Technology from 2006 to 2012. Prior to these posts, he was a professor and director of the School of Technology Studies, professor of interdisciplinary technology, dean of learning resources and technologies, and director of the Center of Educational Resources beginning in 1980. He commenced his career with various universities, including the University of Bridgeport, Syracuse University, and Hobart and William Smith Colleges, having started out as a librarian for the Pennridge Schools in Perkasie, PA, in 1964. Although he is in retirement, he continues to substitute teacher at middle schools and high schools since 2015.

Highly educated, Dr. Boone holds a Bachelor of Science from Kutztown State University, and a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy from Syracuse University. A contributor of myriad articles to professional journals, he was the co-author of “Training Student Library Assistants” in 1991 and is an emeritus editorial board member of Library Hi-Technology. Likewise, he is a lifetime member of the American Library Association.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the fields of information technology and education, Dr. Boone received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Kutztown State University in 2017. In addition, he was named to the Pennridge High School Wall of Fame in 2001 and the Eastern Michigan University Army ROTC Wall of Honor in 2013. He has further been listed in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the Midwest and Who’s Who in the World.
