Alice Rubin, Retired Elementary School Teacher at Galesburg Christian School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in elementary education.
Inspired by her mother, who was an educator, Ms. Rubin commenced her career as a student at Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in 1978. Determined to further her education, she attended Pensacola Christian College and received a Master of Education in 1984. While pursuing her master’s degree, she served as an elementary school teacher at Calvary Baptist School in Menomonee Falls, WI, from 1978 to 1981, as well as an elementary school teacher at Mill Road Christian School in Evansville, IN, from 1981 to 1986.
Subsequent to obtaining her graduate degree, Ms. Rubin traveled abroad to northeast Brazil, where she acted as an elementary school teacher at the Fortaleza Academy from 1986 to 1988. Thereafter, she returned to Mill Road Christian School, holding the same role from 1988 to 1989. Demonstrating versatility and diligence in the field, she relocated to Des Moines, IA, holding the position of elementary school teacher at Grandview Park Baptist School from 1989 to 1996. She concluded her career at the Galesburg Christian School in Galesburg, IL, serving as an elementary school teacher from 1996 until her retirement in 2016.
Although she has been retired, Ms. Rubin continues to act as a substitute teacher, having previously been a cooperative teacher at the Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary from 1989 to 1996. Equally passionate about her community and religion, she has been active in the Faith Baptist Church in Galesburg since 2002. Earlier in her career, she participated routinely in the Colonial Baptist Church in Galesburg from 1996 to 2002 and the Grandview Park Baptist Church in Des Moines from 1989 to 1996.
When asked of her career highlights, Ms. Rubin cites witnessing her students comprehend their studies to be crowning moments of her career. She also immensely enjoyed mentoring younger teachers, watching them blossom as educators in their own right. In recognition of her exceptional contributions to the education industry, she was named Teacher of the Month by Galesburg Christian School in May 2009.
A native of Galesburg, Ms. Rubin has been married since 2004 and enjoys traveling, sewing, reading and rubber stamping in her spare time. She has been highlighted in the 25th edition of Who’s Who of American Women and multiple editions of Who’s Who in American Education.
