Julianna Elise Braund-Allen, Librarian at the University of Alaska Consortium Library, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in library services.
Drawing upon more than three decades of industry experience, Ms. Braund-Allen is a respected reference librarian and professor with the University of Alaska, roles she has held with the university since 2006. In addition to this position, she has been a member of the management team at the Alaska Resources Library and Information Services since 1997. Prior to these illustrious appointments, she served the university as an associate professor from 2000 to 2006. Alongside her primary endeavors, she was the interim program manager of the Alaska State Climate Center at the Environmental and Natural Resources Institute for two years, having previously been a research librarian from 1988 to 2006 and program manager from 1993 to 2006. She commenced her career as a reference librarian at the Anchorage Municipal Library in 1986.
Ms. Braund-Allen holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and a Master of Library Science from Louisiana State University, which she obtained in 1977 and 1986, respectively. Inducted into Beta Phi Mu and Phi Kappa Phi, she has maintained affiliation with the American Library Association, the Alaska Library Association and the Polar Libraries Colloquy, where she has been a bulletin senior editor since 2006. Throughout her career, she has further contributed her expertise to various publications in the field, including as author, co-author and co-editor.
In recognition of her exceptional contributions to her profession, Ms. Braund-Allen has accrued multiple accolades. Presented with a Certificate of Appreciation from the U.S. Department of the Interior, she also received a Hammer Award from Vice President Al Gore, a Directors Excellence Award from the Alaska State Legislature, and the National Award for Library Service from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services. Likewise, she has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who of American Women.
