Kathleen Dome Minarik, English Teacher and Department Chair at Parma City Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in English education and academic administration.
Utilizing more than three decades of industry experience, Ms. Dome Minarik is an esteemed educator and administrator who served Parma City Schools in Ohio for the duration of her career. Commencing her career as an English and reading teacher in 1973, she also served as chair of the English department for nearly 15 fruitful years prior to her retirement in 2004. Alongside her primary career endeavors, she served the school district as an English curriculum writer and a member of the English textbook adoption committee, the reading materials committee and the reading curriculum committee. In addition, she served as member, vice president and president of the Medina County Vocational Board and the Brunswick Board of Education in the 1980s.
Ms. Dome Minarik holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Cleveland State University, a Master of Education from Kent State University, and a certificate in reading. She is a certified teacher in the state of Ohio, as well as an English teacher for seventh through 12th grade and reading teacher for kindergarten through 12th grade. As such, in an effort to remain abreast of recent developments within the industry, she has maintained lifetime memberships with the National Education Association, the Parma Education Association, the Northeast Ohio Education Association and the Ohio Education Association.
In light of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Dome Minarik has accrued numerous accolades and honors. Named an Outstanding Young Woman by the Brunswick Jaycees in 1981, she has been highlighted in Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who of American Teachers and Who’s Who in American Education. Likewise, she was honored by Cambridge Who’s Who in 2007. However, when asked of her career highlights, she cites running for school board during a challenging time in her community to be a crowning moment. Previously engulfed by a teacher’s strike, the district was divided prior to Ms. Dome Minarik’s leadership. Upon serving in a prestigious role in her community, she helped negotiate a change, thus healing the community.
