Mary B. Armstrong, Director of Certificates at the University of Texas, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education.
Drawing upon more than three decades of industry experience, Ms. Armstrong is an esteemed educator who most recently served as the director of certificates at the University of Texas from 1994 until her retirement in 1998. Prior to this appointment, she was a faculty member at the University of Texas from 1993 to 1994, a consultant for Scott Foresman Public Company from 1991 to 1993, and a teaching associate at the Our Lady of the Lake University from 1991 to 1992. In addition, she was the supervisor of kindergarten social studies at Northside Independent School District from 1986 to 1992, having commenced her career as a kindergarten through second grade teacher at the district beginning in 1966.
Ms. Armstrong holds a Bachelor of Science from Texas Women’s University, a Master of Arts from the University of Texas, San Antonio, and a certificate in supervision from Our Lady of the Lake University. A frequent lecturer in the field, she has contributed myriad articles to professional journals and was a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the International Association of Childhood.
In recognition of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Armstrong has accrued several accolades. Honored with the Outstanding Teaching Award from the University of Texas, San Antonio, she also won the Trinity Prize for Outstanding Educator and the Award for Distinguished Teacher from Northside Independent School District. In addition, she was named Northside Teacher of the Year by the Northside Teachers Association early in her career. She has been highlighted in the seventh edition of Who’s Who in American Education and the 25th edition of Who’s Who of American Women.
