Drawing upon more than five decades of industry experience, Dr. Klinger is a licensed psychologist in the state of Minnesota who most recently served as a member of the specialized research faculty at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, CA, from 2008 to 2010. Prior to this role, he was a professor of psychology at the University of Minnesota from 1969 until attaining emeritus status in 2006. Simultaneously serving the university as a coordinator of psychology discipline for 44 years, he previously held the roles of assistant and associate professor beginning in 1962. He has additionally held roles with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Hines and West Side VA Hospitals in Chicago, IL, and the Association of American Medical Colleges, where he first started as a research associate in 1954.
To prepare for his illustrious career, Dr. Klinger pursued formal education at Harvard University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in social relations, magna cum laude, in 1964. He subsequently received a Doctor of Philosophy in psychology from the University of Chicago in 1960. Throughout his career, he has additionally contributed his expertise as a visiting professor in psychology at the University of Konstanz and Ruhr University Bochum in Germany. He has further been deemed a fellow of Divisions One and Eight of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science, the Society for Personality and Social Psychology, the Midwestern Psychological Association, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Dr. Klinger has accrued several accolades in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the psychology and education industries. Cited in Who’s Who Among Human Service Professionals every year since 1992, he has also been listed in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology since 1978, International Authors and Writers Who’s Who since 1977, The Writers Directory since 1976, the Dictionary of International Biography since 1973, the International Scholars Directory since 1972, Contemporary Authors since 1972, Outstanding Educators of America since 1972, and American Men and Women of Science since 1961. In addition, he has been awarded multiple grants and awards. As of November 2020, he has more than 12,758 citations and it grows every day on his more than 150 publications.
