Cecil R. May Jr., Dean Emeritus at Faulkner University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in ministry education.
Drawing upon more than six decades of industry experience, Mr. May is a prominent educator and administrator who has dedicated his life to serving the Lord and inspiring prospective preachers to share the word of God. Most recently serving as dean of biblical studies at Faulkner University in Montgomery, AL, he also served Magnolia Bible College as president for 17 years, which he cites as a highlight of his career. Prior to these appointments, he was a minister at various congregations throughout the states of Mississippi and Oregon. He commenced his career as a minister in Holly Springs, MS, in 1954.
Mr. May holds a Bachelor of Arts in biblical languages, a Master of Arts in the New Testament, and a Master of Theology from Harding University. After gaining valuable experience and making significant strides in his industry, he received an honorary Doctor of Laws from Freed-Hardeman University. A frequent lecturer in the field, he was the author of “Finally Brethren: Bible Questions Answered by Pillar” and the editor of “Preacher Talk,” having also contributed myriad articles to professional journals.
As a testament to his success, Mr. May was recognized by having a building at Magnolia Bible College named in his honor. Likewise, the Magnolia Bible College Board named him a Distinguished Professor in 1997. In 2003, he received the Distinguished Christian Service Award from Harding University, having subsequently obtained the Tower of Strength Award from the Cloverdale Center for Family Strengths at Faulkner University in 2009. As such, he has been highlighted in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who in the World.
