Arthur Schleifer, Professor Emeritus of Harvard Business School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in managerial economics education.

Dr. Schleifer believes being a dedicated lifelong learner has attributed to his professional growth throughout his career. He posits that learning from his colleagues, students and his own natural-born curiosity as they key to his growth. Along with the support from his family and mentors, his success has been built on his hard work and educational opportunities. Originally unsure of what he wanted to do in his life, he attended Yale University, earning an AB in physics and philosophy in 1952. As he began to show interest in the field of economics, he continued his education at Harvard University, earning an MBA in 1954 and a DBA in managerial economics in 1961.

Not long after graduating, Dr. Schleifer began his own career in academia, becoming an assistant and then associate professor of business administration at Dartmouth College from 1957 to 1964. In 1962, he also worked for New York University as a visiting distinguished associate professor. In 1964, he joined the faculty at his alma mater, Harvard, as an associate professor of business administration. He worked in this capacity until 1967, where he then became a full professor at the institution. He would later be recognized as a James J. Hill Professor at the school in 1991 until his retirement in 1998. Upon retiring, he was recognized with the honor of professor emeritus. In addition to these positions, Dr. Schleifer served as the director and Chair of Financial Communication at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and as the director of Seneca Wire Group. In his career, he has contributed to textbooks, such as Finite Mathematics with Business Applications and numerous data analysis works.
