Arlene Feldscher Rutkowski, Retired Teacher at the Jersey City Board of Education, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education.
Ms. Rutkowski is a dedicated educator who served her profession for nearly 40 years prior to her retirement from the industry in 2006. Serving as a teacher with the Jersey City Board of Education for the entirety of her career, she also held numerous other posts within the same vein, including as a curriculum consultant for New Jersey City University and the State Board of Higher Education between 1978 and 1981, member of the All-Day Kindergarten Pilot between 1979 and 1981, and head teacher of Extended Day Primary Center between 1981 and 1990.
The recipient of a Bachelor of Arts in early childhood from New Jersey City University, Ms. Rutkowski subsequently completed postgraduate coursework at the school 11 years later. Since earning her degree, she has become a certified teacher of students with disabilities. Equally passionate about her community, she has been an activities coordinator for Our Lady of Mercy Seniors for their annual fishing outing in affiliation with the Jersey City Police Department since 1985 and has been an active member of The Arc of the United States since 1976. Likewise, she has also been on the board of directors of the Hudson unit with Hudson Milestones since 1983.
As a testament to her success, Ms. Rutkowski was named Teacher of the Year by P.S. 34 with the Jersey City Board of Education in 2005. In addition, Hudson Milestones named her Volunteer of the Year and gave her a LaGreca Award in 2013. Earlier in her career, she received an award from the Briamonte Association of Citizens in 1977. Notably, she has been highlighted in the 21st edition of Who’s Who in the East.
