Drawing upon more than four decades of experience, Ms. Crow is a prominent elementary school educator who most recently served as a science teacher at Metamora Grade School in Illinois from 1981 until her retirement from the industry in 2003. Commencing her career in the field of chemistry as a laboratory technician, she served in this capacity for numerous medical centers, including the University of Nebraska Medical Center from 1960 to 1961, the Omaha VA Medical Center from 1962 to 1965, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Laboratory from 1965 to 1968.
To prepare for her illustrious career, Ms. Crow pursued formal education at Central College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1957. She subsequently attended the University of Nebraska, completing postgraduate coursework between 1957 and 1960. After gaining valuable experience in the field, she received a teaching certificate from Eureka College in 1981 and a Master of Science in education from Illinois State University in 1993. She is a certified K-9 teacher in the state of Illinois.
Throughout her career, Ms. Crow has contributed myriad articles to professional journals and has been a frequent presenter in her field. She has been a contributing author of three publications: “Before the Bell: Sage Advice for New Teachers” in 2005, “Teacher to Teacher” in 2003, and “Celebrating Science” in 1991. As a testament to her success, she was notably named Illinois Teacher of the Year by the Illinois Board of Education in 2001, which she cites as a highlight of her career. Previously, she was also named Teacher of the Year by Peoria Area Sigma Chi in 1999 and was honored as One of Illinois’ Outstanding Science Teachers by Illinois State University and the National Science Foundation from 1988 to 1991.
Married to Ernest W. Crow since 1960, Ms. Crow is the proud mother of two children, Jennifer and Steven. In her spare time, she enjoys studying astronomy, reading science fiction, and crafting. She has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the Midwest and Who’s Who of American Women.
