Dr. Michael E. Currier, Instructor at State Fair Community College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in ministry and education.
Drawing upon more than 50 years of professional experience, Dr. Currier is a distinguished minister and educator who has held a number of versatile roles throughout the course of his career. Currently serving as a college instructor at State Fair Community College, he also spends his time as a minister at Walk on the Water Faith Church, a hospice clergy member in Osage Beach, MO, and a television host for Lake TV 32. Briefly serving as a Boy Scouts chaplain for the Kinderhook District for two years, he also held the role of administrator of the Lighthouse Christian Academy, a faculty member of Weatherford College, a teacher at Springtown Intermediate School, and a curriculum specialist at Castleberry Independent School District.
Previously, Dr. Currier held multiple posts in the educational realm, such as a sixth grade teacher, a reading clinician, a reading consultant, an associate professor of elementary education, an educational specialist, and a special education and preschool consultant, among other prominent positions. For more than 35 years, he also served as an educational consultant and trainer for several State Departments of Education. He has been certified as a middle management administrator and supervisor, as well as in language arts, English as a second language, reading, English, social studies and elementary education.
To prepare for his illustrious career, Dr. Currier pursued formal education at the University of Omaha, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and the humanities. Continuing his education with the university, he received a Master of Science in education and reading. Soon thereafter, he transferred to the University of Nebraska, where he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in education. After gaining prominence in his field, he earned an Advanced Degree, a Bachelor of Arts, and a Master of Arts in ministry and theology from Life Christian University. One year later, he earned a Doctor of Philosophy (all but dissertation) in ministry and theology from the same academic institution.
Dr. Currier is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the National Council of Teachers of English, and the International Literacy Association, where he was the Nebraska state president for one year. In addition, he has been a prolific author, penning several books, including “5 Fingers: Games to Motivate the Growing Reader” and “Creating Effective Classroom Environments.” He attributes his profound success to his many mentors, including God and thousands of his former students, who have attained significant success.
In light of his exceptional accomplishments, Dr. Currier has been highlighted in numerous honors publications, including the seventh edition of Who’s Who in American Education, the 27th edition of Who’s Who in the World, and multiple editions of Who’s Who in America. Looking toward the future, he intends to serve the Lord in church services and teach students.
