Dick Simpson, Professor at The University of Illinois at Chicago, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of education.

Dedicated to sharing his knowledge with others, Dr. Simpson has excelled as an educator and an ordained minister of the United Church of Christ. He has been affiliated with the University of Illinois at Chicago since 1967 where he has held positions such as associate professor of political science and department head of political science. In preparation for his influential career, Dr. Simpson earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas, a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy from Indiana University and a Master of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary.

In addition to his main pursuits, Dr. Simpson has undertaken additional responsibilities. He has been involved with the United Church of Christ, serving as the executive director for the Institute on the Church and Urban-Industrial Society in Chicago. Interested in politics, he has been a Congressional Candidate in 1992 and 1994, a part of multiple mayoral transition teams for the city of Chicago and a campaign manager of McCarthy for President in Illinois from 1967 to 1968. Sharing his wisdom with others, Dr. Simpson has authored “Teaching Civic Engagement Across the Disciplines,” “Twenty-First Century Chicago” and most recently, “The Good Fight,” which was published in 2018.

Bettering any organization with which he has been affiliated, Dr. Simpson is a member of organizations such as the Midwest Political Science Association, the Illinois Political Science Association and the Society of Midland Authors, among others. He has received numerous awards including the Excellence in Teaching Award from The University of Illinois at Chicago and the American Political Science Association as well as awards from the City Club of Chicago and Society of Midland Authors. A testament to his notoriety, Dr. Simpson has been lauded with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in American Politics, Who’s Who in the Midwest and Who’s Who in the World.
