Anthony Andrews, Professor at New College of Florida, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of education.

With a love of anthropology, Dr. Andrews has dedicated his career to teaching others about the wonder of diverse human cultures and societal development. He has been a professor for the New College of Florida since 1989, previously serving as chair of the division of social sciences at the institution from 1989 to 1995. Dr. Andrews worked as an archaeology researcher in Mesoamerica and Central America, pursing his passion of exploring and learning about people of the past and how they influence contemporary life. In preparation for his exciting work, Dr. Andrews earned a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology, graduating magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1973, and a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Arizona in 1976 and 1980, respectively.

Bettering any organization with which he holds membership, Dr. Andrews has been associated with the Society for American Archaeology, the Sociedad Mexicana de Antropologia, the Sociedad Espanola de Estudios Mayas and the American Anthropological Association. His dedication to his work has afforded him research grants from National Geographic Society, the Institute of National Antropologia e Historia of Mexico, the University of South Florida, the New College of Florida and the Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies. Publishing creative works such as “The First Cities” and “Maya Salt Production and Trade” has allowed him to share his work with the world, ensuring others can learn from his expertise.

In recognition of his success, Dr. Andrews has been lauded with The Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in the South and Southwest and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
