Drawing upon more than 45 years of professional experience, Dr. Calvin is an esteemed figure in the realms of computers and education. Since 1986, she has been serving as the president of Ver Strate Press in San Francisco, CA. Alongside this prominent role, she has also been an instructor at the City College of San Francisco since 1992, having previously served in the same post from 1980 to 1984. Prior to these positions, she was the manager of applications development at Data Architects, Inc., from 1984 to 1986, a staff manager at Pacific Bell Information Systems from 1981 to 1984, a systems analyst and programmer at Pacific Bell Information Systems from 1976 to 1981, and a director at the Management Information Systems Institute for Professional Development from 1975 to 1976. She commenced her career as a manager of data processing at the Behavioral Research Laboratories from 1972 to 1975.

In addition to spending time with computers, Dr. Calvin has also lent her expertise to academia, having formerly been an instructor at Skyline College and Cañada College between 1986 and 1992. Previously serving as a member of the computer curriculum advisory council with the City College of San Francisco from 1982 to 1984, she was also the vice president of the League of Women Voters in Roanoke, VA, from 1956 to 1958. Civically, she was on the board of directors of Volunteers for Israel from 1986 to 1987 and president of the Bulliss Purissima Parents Group from 1962 to 1964.

To prepare for her illustrious career, Dr. Calvin pursued formal education at Michigan State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology in 1951. She subsequently attended the University of San Francisco, receiving a Master of Arts in education and a Doctor of Philosophy in organization and leadership in 1988 and 1991, respectively. She was the first person in her family to attend college. Throughout her career, she has maintained affiliation with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Computer Society, the Association for Systems Management, the Association for Women in Computing and Phi Delta Kappa.

As a testament to her professional success, Dr. Calvin has been highlighted in the first edition of Who’s Who in the Media and Communication and multiple editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the West, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women.
