Jean B. Nunes, Art Educator and Painter at Santa Monica College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in art education.
Drawing upon more than 50 years of professional experience, Ms. Nunes is a renowned painter and art educator who has been serving as an instructor at Santa Monica College since 1969 and an art educator in Venice, Italy, since 2017. During this time, she served Santa Monica College as a member of the mentor program from 1989 to 1990, a lecturer at the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1986, a private art teacher from 1970 to 1996, and an instructor in the extension division of the University of California, Los Angeles, from 1969 to 1996. In addition, she was a former instructor at the East Los Angeles Junior College from 1969 to 1970, an instructor at Beverly Hills Adult Education in 1969, and a lecturer at California State University, Long Beach, from 1967 to 1969. She commenced her career as an instructor at the University Adult School in Los Angeles, CA, and a teaching associate at the University of California, Los Angeles, between 1964 and 1970.
Ms. Nunes holds a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and Master of Fine Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles. Throughout her career, she has been exhibited in a number of group shows in such institutions as the Pacific Palisades Library, the Brentwood Park Group Art Exhibition, Mount Saint Mary’s College, the Plaza de la Raza Gallery, the Living Room Gallery and Santa Monica College.
Teaching pastels and Indian ink abstract paintings, Ms. Nunes has always enjoyed educating students. As a testament to her professional success, she has been featured in the 17th edition of Who’s Who in the World and multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, and Who’s Who of American Women.
