Dale M. Grimes, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Electrical Engineering at Pennsylvania State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in electrical engineering and higher education.

With more than 40 years of professional excellence, Dr. Grimes is a celebrated and versatile educator who served as a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Pennsylvania State University from 1979 to 1991, when he reached emeritus status. Also serving as the chairman of the department at Pennsylvania State University from 1979 to 1986, he previously held several roles with multiple other academic institutions, such as professor of electrical engineering for the University of Texas at El Paso from 1976 to 1979. He also held numerous posts with the University of Michigan, including professor of electrical engineering from 1961 to 1976 and research associate, assistant professor and associate professor between 1951 and 1961. He also served as a chief scientist at Conductron Corporation in Ann Arbor, MI, from 1960 to 1963.

To prepare for his illustrious career, Dr. Grimes pursued a formal education at Iowa State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in physics, mathematics and chemistry in 1950. He subsequently continued at the university, earning a Master of Science in physics and mathematics in 1951. Dr. Grimes transferred to the University of Michigan, receiving a Doctor of Philosophy in electrical engineering in 1956. Prior to entering academia, he was with the United States Naval Reserve from 1943 to 1946.

Dr. Grimes has written five books since his retirement and published myriad papers on electrical engineering in esteemed journals. He has devised numerous patents in the field and has conducted research in automotive radar, biconical antennas, quantum theory, and electromagnetic radiation. Married to the late Janet LaVonne Moore, Dr. Grimes is the proud father of two children and two grandchildren. He enjoys traveling, race walking and attending the theater in his spare time.
