Esther Thomas, Elementary and Adult Education Educator (Retired), has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education.
Ms. Thomas served as a dedicated educator for more than four decades, starting her venture into teaching in the 1960s. Her passion for the field started at a much earlier age as she was introduced to how rewarding and fulfilling being an educator could be due to her second-grade teacher. Ms. Thomas was also inspired by her mother, who was the first in her family to be college educated. For the majority of her career, she taught at the Cajon Valley Union School District, retiring in 2010 after 40 years at the school. Ms. Thomas has also direction various Bible and Sunday school programs, taught nursery school, and served on science, mathematics and library committees.
Ms. Thomas earned an honorary AA from Grossmont College in 1966 and continued at San Diego State University, receiving an honorary BA in 1969. She later earned a Master of Arts from University of Redlands in 1977. In recognition of her work, Ms. Thomas was nominated in 2008 among the Cajon Valley Education Foundation Stars, and has previously been awarded the Dream Classroom Award from KSWB-TV, the Outstanding Teacher Award from KYWY Radio, and the Outstanding Service Award from the PTA. She was also nominated for the Hats Off to Teachers Award from the San Diego Board of Education. Ms. Thomas is also noted for her creative work, having penned numerous songs of religious themes.
