Jane Hasek, Academic Administrator at Allen College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in professional and educational organization.

When it came to finding her path in life, Dr. Hasek turned to the education and health care fields, sensing an invigorating and intriguing line of work that would be constantly changing and evolving. These characteristics, along with the prospect of her work resounding in the help of others, helped her make a clear choice in her professional endeavors. A highlight of Dr. Hasek’s career has been helping establish Allen College. Prior to retiring from the institution, the college established a full scholarship to a senior in her name. At the present time, Dr. Hasek is focusing her skills and knowledge on creating and developing a new museum with the Heritage Society centered on one-room schools. The grand opening is scheduled for September 2018.

In 1960, Dr. Hasek made the first step in her career by earning a diploma in nursing from Lincoln General Hospital. After garnering experience in the field, she returned to her education and received a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies at the University of Oklahoma in 1978. She then received a Master of Science in higher education from Drake University in 1982 and a PhD in educational administration from the University of Northern Iowa in 1987. While matriculating at the University of Northern Iowa, her mentor, Constantine Curious, was the president of the school at the time and instrumental in developing Allen College. Dr. Hasek also received a MSN from Drake University in 2000 and an Honorary DHL from Allen College in 2006.

Dr. Hasek’s areas of expertise include policy development, administration, financial professional organization social/ethical integration of career development, leadership, clinical-critical care and emergency care. For her work, she was recognized as one of the 100 Great Iowa Nurses in 2005. She also received an INA Teresa Christy Award, a Governor’s Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service and an Alumni of the Year Award from Lincoln General Hospital. She served as the founding chancellor of Allen College from 1989 until her retirement in 2005. She now enjoys the title of Chancellor Emerita.
