Donald E. Wiest, Secondary School Educator at Sandy Creek Public School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in science and mathematics education.
Amassing more than four decades of professional experience, Mr. Wiest is an accomplished and respected secondary school educator who has taught science, physics, chemistry and mathematics to children for the duration of his career. Most recently acting as a physics, mathematics and science teacher at Sandy Creek Public School from 2010 to 2014, he formerly served such schools as Clay Center Public school, Mankato Public School, Guide Rock Public School, Eastern Heights Public School, Bruning Public School, Paxton Public School and Central Catholic High School beginning in 1970. Alongside his primary endeavors, Mr. Wiest has been a longstanding member of the Republican National Committee and Nebraska Republican Party since 2000. He has additionally volunteered at the Vestey Center and is the treasurer of the Nuckolls County Food Pantry. From 1977 to 1986, he was the co-founder and president of the Bruning Education Association.
In recognition of his exceptional contributions to education, Mr. Wiest was honored with the Outstanding Service and Assistance Award from the Kansas National Education Association in 2004 and 2006. He remains a member of the American Association of Mature Citizens, Christians United for Israel and the American Center for Law and Justice. Heavily interested in astronomy, cosmology and astrophysics, the highlight of his career was witnessing the total solar eclipse in 2017.
Mr. Wiest holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Nebraska and a Master of Science from Kansas State University. Notably, he has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in American Education.
