Sharon Lee Radashaw, Vocal Music and Drama Educator at Los Angeles Unified School District and California State University, Northridge, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music education.

A prominent and celebrated music educator, Ms. Radashaw has amassed nearly six decades of professional experience in her areas of expertise. Serving as a master teacher at California State University, Northridge, since 1990; chair of the electives department at Lawrence Middle School, from 1988 – 2007, and music and drama counselor at the Boy Scouts of America since 1981, she formerly served the educational community in several capacities beginning in the late 1950s. From 1980 to 2007, she was a music, drama and mathematics teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District, and from 1991 to 2000, she served as a music specialist at the California Arts Project in Northridge, CA.

Prior to these appointments, Ms. Radashaw acted as a music consultant for the Conejo Unified School District from 1978 to 1980, a creative arts teacher at California Lutheran University from 1969 to 1970 and in 1980, a music consultant for the Valley Oak District and Ventura County from 1965 to 1967, and a music teacher for Garden Grove Unified School District from 1962 to 1963. She commenced her career as a music teacher at Mason Public Schools and Waverly Schools near Lansing, MI from 1959 to 1960 and from 1960 to 1962, respectively.

Alongside her primary endeavors as an educator, Ms. Radashaw has showcased her expertise as a singer, television, movie and stage actress and extra throughout Hollywood, CA. She has been an art show judge for the Thousand Oaks City Council since 1985 and was a former member of the California Towards Arts Assessment Project in 1993. Among her notable roles, she is most renowned as a local director of several shows, including “Aladdin,” “The Pink Panther Strikes Again,” “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” “Wizard of Oz,” “Sound of Music,” “Grease,” “Annie” and “The King and I,” among others. In addition, she has been an actress for several more debuts, including “The Stingiest Man in Town,” “Desert Song,” “Dido and Aeneas,” “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Mikado.” Ms. Radashaw has performed in the summer Bach Festival, at the Hollywood Bowl under the direction of the late Robert Shaw, conducting the Los Angeles Symphony. She also sang at Carnegie Hall, in New York City in the world’s first cyber chorus with the New York Symphony, under the direction of Maestro John Rutter of the University of Cambridge, England.

To prepare for her illustrious career, Ms. Radashaw pursued a formal education at Eastern Michigan University, where she earned a Bachelor of Music Education in 1959. She subsequently attended Michigan State University, obtaining a Master of Music in 1962. Since graduating, she has completed postgraduate coursework at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and the University of San Diego between 1965 and 1996.

In the community of Thousand Oaks, California, Ms. Radashaw has been the Executive Producer of the Conejo Players Theatre for fourteen years in addition to acting and directing. She was appointed by the Thousand Oaks City Mayor and Council as an Arts Commissioner for eight years to help promote the Arts in the city.

In an effort to remain abreast of recent developments within the entertainment and education industries, Ms. Radashaw maintains affiliation with several organizations, including the National Educators Association, the National Music Educators Association, the California Teachers Association, the California Music Educators Association, and the California Math Educators Association. Furthermore, she is associated with the Drama Teacher’s Association of Southern California and the United Teachers of Los Angeles.

In recognition of her exceptional contributions to the industry, Ms. Radashaw has accrued several honors throughout her impressive career. A Fulbright-Hays Scholar in Japan, Turkey and Romania-Bulgaria between 1997 and 2007, she was presented with the Bravo Award from the L.A. Music Center in 1992. In addition, she was given a Commendation for Multi-cultural Contribution to Youth by the Los Angeles Mayor and City Council in 2001. Notably, Ms. Radashaw has been highlighted in the third edition of Who’s Who in Entertainment, the 24th edition of Who’s Who in the West and the new Who’s Who in American 2018 – 2019.
