Mary Conroy, Ph.D., Professor Emerita at the University of Colorado, Denver, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Russian history education.
A celebrated educator of Russian history, Dr. Conroy has amassed more than five decades of professional experience in her area of expertise. From 1985 to 2005, she was a professor of Russian and Soviet history at the University of Colorado, Denver, reaching the rank of professor emerita. Prior to this position, she was an associate professor and assistant professor at the university, an assistant professor at the University of Illinois, and an assistant professor at Kansas State University beginning in 1964.
Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Conroy has authored a number of books regarding Russian history, politics and the pharmaceutical industry. In 2009, she published “The Cosmetics Baron You’ve Never Heard of: E. Virgil Neal and Tokalon,” which was transformed into a documentary on the Corsican mafia and displayed on European television in 2017. Most recently, she served as an editor for “Emerging Democracy in Late Imperial Russia” in 2013.
Alongside her primary endeavors, Dr. Conroy has been teaching Russian history at The Academy for Lifelong Learning for eight years. In recognition of her exceptional contributions to higher education, she was honored with the George Urdang Award in 1997 and was a grantee of the International Research and Exchange in 1990. Dr. Conroy holds a Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary’s College, as well as a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy from Indiana University.
